Football-inspired streetwear brand Lovers F.C. and rolling paper brand Rizla have teamed up for a collaboration honoring football’s roots in Jamaica. As a part of a larger effort to explore the origins of the sport, Lovers F.C. headed to Jamaica with Rizla for a campaign that immerses itself in the island’s football culture and highlights the residents.
The capsule contains four different jerseys that each play on Jamaican color palettes, with two even incorporating the country’s flag colors. The other two styles depart from the country’s branding with one featuring blue stars and the other red and blue stripes.
Every jersey features the Rizla logo emblazoned on the chest, and both brands’ logos are reimagined as team badges to supply an authentic football uniform look. All of the jerseys also come in a ‘90s baggy style. The capsule also includes Lovers F.C. designed king-size Rizla rolling papers.
The campaign authentically pays homage to Jamaica by using local talent, businesses, and knowledge from the islanders. Film producer and brand developer Odessa Chambers helped bring the shoot to life, while Aza Lineage, an upcoming dancehall scene artist, starred in the images. The campaign is also set in landmarks of Jamaican subcultures all across the island, like Sceechies, Hermitage, The Barbican Market, Effey Fruits, and Hellshire Beach.
The Lovers F.C. x Rizla collection is out now and available on Lovers F.C. website. The jerseys retail for $63 USD and the rolling papers retail for $4 USD.
