A historic season for the Liberty High girls soccer program came to an end last week at the state tournament in Des Moines.
The Lightning continued to reap the rewards of their special season on Wednesday.
Liberty High had a pair of players named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Class 2A all-state teams when the organization released its postseason honors.
Senior defender Eno Ituk and junior midfielder Rilyn Breinholt were both IGCA 2A all-state selections after helping Liberty High to a 13-5 record and the first state tournament appearance in program history.
Ituk was a key part of a Lightning defense that allowed just 15 goals in 18 matches this season and posted 11 shutouts.
Ituk also had two goals and two assists from her defender position.
Breinholt led Liberty High with a career-high 20 goals and added six assists for the Lightning on her way to earning all-state honors.
A three-year starter, Breinholt had four postseason goals and scored in all three postseason matches helping the Lightning advance to the state tournament for the first time.
