Former Nigeria U17 midfielder Hamzat Ojediran says he is hoping to get a call up to the senior national team of Nigeria when they resume the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Ojediran joined the Ligue 1 side from Hungarian side Debrecen in the summer and he has wasted no time in settling down into his new surroundings, despite suffering a harmstring injury just before the start of the season.
Upon his signing , the idea was for the 21 year old to spend time with the B team before making his way to the first team , but he made his way into the first team plans after two weeks.
So far he has made eight appearances in Ligue 1, a number he is pushing to increase in the second stanza of the league in order to catch the attention of the national team selectors of Nigeria.
” It has been worth it and all I hope it gets better in the second stanza by the grace of God. No player who doesn’t dream of representing his national team and that is my goal as well”, he said.
” I know I have to play more to earn it and that is my goal for the second half of the season. It will help me to realize my dream of playing for Nigeria at senior level”, he concluded.
