Lakes football edges Red Devils for win Friday – Daily Mining Gazette

IRONWOOD — With eight points in the fourth quarter, the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes football team won its third game of the season with a 16-14 victory over Ironwood Friday night at Longyear Field in Ironwood.
The Red Devils scored first, but the Lakes responded in the second quarter with a touchdown.
Ironwood then regained the lead in the third quarter, 14-8, but the Lakes scored again in the fourth and added a two-point conversion for the win.
Nate St. Onge led the Lakes in rushing with 25 rushes for 130 yards, one touchdown and one two-point conversion.
Brady Axford added 84 yards on the ground in 18 attempts. He also went 2-of-6 through the air for 35 yards.
Josh Daavettila gained 28 yards on seven carries and picked up a touchdown. He also had one catch for 11 yards.
Danny Mikus led the Lakes in receiving with one catch for 24 yards.
UP NEXT
The Lakes moved to 3-5 overall and will play Ontonagon Saturday at home at 1:30 p.m. Ironwood will play Gogebic on Friday.
