IR senior midfielder Anahi Parada scored two goals to help Indian River defeat Seaford, 7-0, in early April.
Sophomore forwards Brynn Knight and Ella Peterson each scored goals to help lead the Indian River High School girls’ soccer team past host Lake Forest, 2-1, in a Henlopen Conference Southern Division match on Tuesday, April 30.
Peterson scored her team-leading sixth goal to give the Green & Gold a 1-0 lead just nine minutes into the match. She deftly converted a pass from sophomore forward Allie Tucker.
Knight netted the eventual game-winner in the 58th minute by scoring her second goal of the season. Her bullet broke a 1-1 tie that was created five minutes earlier on a goal by Spartan’s senior Carlie Coleman.
Senior goalkeeper Alex Davidson made six saves to secure the triumph for the Indians, who improved to 6-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play.

The Indians surrendered the game’s only goal with a minute remaining in the first half at Padua Academy on Monday, April 29.
Freshman forward Charlotte McDerby hit the back of the net with an assist by sophomore midfielder Audrey Kehner for the Pandas, who improved to 5-5 overall.
Senior goalkeeper Alex Davidson made eight saves for the Indians, who fell to 5-3-1 overall. Davidson has also combined for two whitewashes in tandem with freshman Catherine Bunting.

IRHS sophomore Allie Tucker scored the game’s only goal in the 63rd minute on Thursday, April 25, and the Indians played airtight defense to rebound from a tough loss to Sussex Academy two days earlier.
“The girls had an excellent performance against a top Division One team,” said IRSD soccer head coach Brandt Mais. “I was really proud of the resilience they displayed after the tough loss to Sussex Academy.”
Tucker, who has scored at least one point in six of the Indians’ eight games this season, netted her team-leading fifth goal of the campaign on an assist from sophomore forward Kamdyn Shockley.
“Allie scored on a fantastic shot from 30 yards out that went off the post to win the game,” said Mais. “And Kammie Shockley provided a perfect assist on the play.”
Senior goalkeeper Alex Davidson made eight saves, notching her second shutout of the season and the 16th whitewash of her four-year career.
Davidson was the beneficiary of an airtight defense that kept midfielder and Villanova University commit Desiree Zapata off the scoresheet.
“Keeping Zapata scoreless was a massive team accomplishment and effort, especially for our defenders and Alex,” said Mais. “Zapata had scored 14 goals, and in every game she’d played in this year except for us, Sussex Tech and Middletown, which is the No. 1-ranked team in the state.
“The girls showed great fight, displayed good soccer and, more importantly, excellent character for a massive win,” added Mais. “I’m excited to see what the second half of the season has in store for us.”
Indian River improved to 5-2-1 overall and 4-2-1 in conference play.
Smyrna fell to 3–5-1 overall and 3-3-1 in conference competition.
