Former Medeama striker Jonathan Sowah is rumored to be selected for Ghana’s squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June.
Ghana is set to compete against Mali and the Central African Republic, and Sowah’s potential inclusion is anticipated before the official squad announcement.
Sowah was absent from the team’s international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in March but is expected to make a comeback.
Playing for Al Nasr Benghazi in Libya, Sowah has shown remarkable form, scoring five goals in six appearances in the Libyan Premier League, tying as the club’s top scorer.
His performance in the previous season’s Ghana Premier League secured him a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Sowah’s first competitive game for the Black Stars was in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Comoros, which Ghana lost 1-0.
Black Stars coach Otto Addo is slated to reveal the squad for the upcoming qualifiers soon.
The team will head to Bamako to play Mali on June 6, followed by a home game against the Central African Republic in Kumasi on June 10.
