Brad Hall finishes second, Francesco Friedrich defends World Cup lead with third place
Sigulda (RWH) Bobsleigh pilot Johannes Lochner has given himself an early Christmas present: the 2023 World Champion won the third 2-man bobsleigh race of the 2024/25 IBSF World Cup in Sigulda (LAT). For Lochner, competing for the first time with brakeman Jörn Wenzel, it was World Cup podium place number 80: the Olympic silver medallist has now stood on the 2-man bobsleigh podium 44 times in the IBSF World Cup so far, with a further 36 podium finishes in the 4-man bobsleigh. Johannes Lochner can expect another early present soon: in an interview with the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF after the race, he revealed that he will become a father for the first time in the next few days.
Second in the 2-man bobsleigh World Cup in Sigulda: the British duo of pilot Brad Hall with push athlete Taylor Lawrence (0.21 seconds back).
Olympic and World Champion and defending World Cup title holder Francesco Friedrich (GER, 0.30 seconds back) finished third in Sigulda, pushed by Alexander Schüller.
Boris Vain/Arthur Prevost of Monaco celebrated their best World Cup result by far in fourth place. Frank del Duca/Charles Volker of the USA finished fifth ahead of Austria’s Markus Treichl/Daiyehan Nichols-Bardi.
European Champion Adam Ammour (GER) crashed in Sigulda in the first heat and did not start in the second World Cup run.
Francesco Friedrich (GER, 650 points) continues to lead the overall standings in the IBSF World Cup 2024/25 after the third of eight races this season. He is closely followed by his teammate Johannes Lochner (GER, 645) and Brad Hall (GBR, 594).
