Igor Stimac, the head coach of the Indian football team unveiled the second list of 15 potential players for the upcoming Bhubaneswar camp on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, This announcement comes as a follow-up to the initial roster revealed just a few days prior, intensifying anticipation for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers Round 2 clashes against Kuwait and Qatar.
The initial batch of 26 players selected by Igor Stimac will commence their training in Bhubaneswar from May 10. Joining them five days later, on May 15, will be the additional 15 players from the recently announced list, which include standout performers from Mumbai City FC and Mohun Bagan. With a combined squad of 41 players, the Blue Tigers will gear up for their crucial fixtures hosting Kuwait in Kolkata on June 6 before hitting the road to Qatar on June 11.
The Indian football community was abuzz with reactions following the unveiling of the probables list for the national team. Let’s delve into how enthusiasts from across the country responded to the selection.
Jayesh Rane is the most deserving one to be excluded. He played really good in the box to box in final
Defence looks shaky and the new defenders lack experience so defence will be a major concern, Midfielders and forwards seem strong. Regardless let’s hope the team performs well
Is it only me, or even you’ll think that instead of SAS & Akash(who are also harbouring injury btw),Jayesh & maybe Sangwan should have been selected purely based on there form, nothing else. Are they waiting for the injury to turn more fatal? #IndianFootball https://t.co/morBxnSlER
Squad looks like its a perfect balance of youth, skill and experience, hopefully this camp will be helpful in giving us the result we desire. https://t.co/rlndiNk2is
Laldinpuia, jayesh Rane, Valpuia and Ashish rai deserves @stimac_igor
The inclusion of Purbha , Vikram and Deepak is good.
