Ivy Henderson of Columbia River girls soccer is the Week 8 Prep Athlete of the Week – The Columbian


Ivy Henderson of Columbia River girls soccer is the The Columbian 2024 Week 8 high school athlete of the week sponsored by Killer Burger.
Henderson received 512 of 1,285 votes to win the honor. The senior scored four goals in two wins for the Rapids, including three in a playoff win over Mark Morris.
Nominees are selected by The Columbian staff after a review of the previous week’s results. Suggestions for nominees can by made by anyone, but must be received by 6 p.m. Monday for consideration.
Winners of the player-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.
Nominees are posted and voting begins each Tuesday and runs through Thursday.
Here are what the other Week 8 nominees accomplished:
DANICA ALLEN, RIDGEFIELD GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The senior placed second overall at the 2A district meet, finishing in 19 minutes, 20 seconds.
ESTHER LANGELIERS, LA CENTER VOLLEYBALL: The senior had 39 kills, five digs and six block in two wins as the Wildcats clinched a league title.
BAILEY TRAHAN, SKYVIEW GIRLS SWIMMING: The junior swam to victories in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke at the 4A district meet.
LEO ZHAO, CAMAS BOYS TENNIS: The junior won four matches to capture the 4A bi-district singles title, helping Camas take the team crown.
