BASEL, Switzerland, Jan. 10, 2025–Isabell Werth on DSP Quantaz on Friday won the World Cup Grand Prix in the same arena where the top ranked rider appears likely to compete in her 26th Final of the annual championship.
Isabell and the 15-year-old German Sport Horse gelding scored 76.239% for the win in the Western European League. Isabell is the No. 1 rider in the world after 2024 when she became the sixth most decorated Olympian in history with team gold and individual silver on Wendy at Paris.
Isabel Freese of Norway on Total Hope OLD, the 13-year-old stallion sired by Totilas, was runner-up on 75.000%.
Frederic Wandres on Bluetooth OLD, the 15-year-old gelding that he rode on Germany’s gold medal team in Paris, placed third on 74,543%. Frederic limited his competition schedule at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida this winter to seek his first World Cup start.
The Freestyle is scheduled for Saturday to decide points to qualify for the Final in Basel in April.
