The Iowa Demon Hawks, a Major Arena Soccer League 2 team, has announced the addition of a professional women’s soccer team this season, making Iowa’s first professional women’s team a reality.
Darwin Salas, Iowa Demon Hawks Owner, expressed enthusiasm for the team in a news release, saying, “It’s a great opportunity for us to provide that talent a showcase for the indoor game.”
Salas continued, saying the team expects to be competitive and full of talent and experience, working hard for success.
The men’s team won the league’s championship last season.
The Iowa Demon Hawks women’s team will compete in the Great Lakes North Division with a 10-game regular season, according to a news release. Home games will take place at the Buccaneers Arena in Urbandale.
The team’s first match will take place on Friday, Jan. 24, in a doubleheader with the women’s team playing Indiana United FC followed by the men’s team versus the Muskegon Risers.
