Inter Milan and Lautaro Martinez have suddenly made a major breakthrough in their contract talks, reaching an agreement over the player’s new salary.
The negotiations between the two parties appeared to go off the rails in recent days, mainly due to the agent’s extravagant demands. This includes wages that begin at 12 million euros and eventually reach 16M in the following campaigns.
But as we reported earlier today, the striker decided to take the matter into his own hands.
The Argentine reportedly accepted the club’s offer, instructing his agent Alejandro Camano to drop his hefty requests.
So as FcInterNews reports, the parties were able to reach an accord thanks to the player’s intervention.
The management also paved the way for the accord to see the light by agreeing to raise the offer.
As the source explains, the Nerazzurri offered Martinez a salary of 9 million euros in addition to another 2M as bonuses.
The add-ons include 1.5 million euros in easily achievable bonuses. Therefore, the striker would be definitely able to surpass the 10M threshold, as he had personally requested.
Therefore, the report expects this saga to reach a happy ending in the coming days.
Inter will secure the services of their club captain and talismanic star. And the latter can head to the Copa America while resting assured that he’ll be playing his football at San Siro next term.
The 26-year-old is coming off his best campaign at Appiano Gentile since joining the club in 2018.
The striker led the club towards a historic Serie A title while winning the league’s MVP Award. He also finished as the Serie A top scorer with 24 goals to his name.
