TROUP, Texas (KTRE) – Cooper Reid crossed the stage at his high school graduation in Troup.
He continues his recovery after a 2022 accident that caused a traumatic brain injury during a football game.
Since the injury, he has seen multiple doctors, physical and occupational therapists. Friday marked another milestone in his journey and rehabilitation.
Valedictorian Chloie Nicole Haugeberg gave special remarks about Reid in her speech.
“What happened to Cooper is tragic, but it has brought the Class of 2024 together. From reconciled friendships to new spiritual relationships with God. These blue ribbons that each 2024 graduate has pinned to their gown represent the love and gratitude we have for Cooper,” said Haugeberg.
As Reid returned to his spot on the stage, smiles filled his mother’s face.
