The match is being played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium under overcast conditions of New York. The toss for the game was already delayed by a few minutes due to rain in New York, and there’s a chance that the weather will play a spoilsport once again.
With rain and weather-related delays being unpredictable, ICC’s priority is to make sure a complete 40-over game is played.
For this purpose, ICC has kept a one hour buffer time in case of rains for group games in the T20 World Cup.
But for India vs Pakistan clash especially, the ICC has decided to extend the buffer time to 90 minutes, allotting a full 1.5 hours incase of rain delay and before the reduction of overs start.
In short, the match can be delayed by 1.5 hours due to rain before overs are reduced.
