Four-star quarterback Brady Hart, coming off a breakout performance as a sophomore last season for Cocoa (Florida) High and considered among the nation’s top high school prospects, has become Michigan’s first commitment to the 2026 class.
Hart, who helped lead Cocoa to a 14-1 record and repeat as state champs, announced his decision on Tuesday. He had a number of offers, including Ohio State, Notre Dame and Penn State, and in recent days it seemed he might be a Clemson lean.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound rising junior is ranked the nation’s No. 7 quarterback and No. 92 nationally by 247Sports Composite. Last season, Hart threw for 3,760 yards and 41 touchdowns, helping lead his team to the state title. He completed 67% of his passes. Hart joins elite company at Michigan as the Wolverines’ first top-100 quarterback commit since J.J. McCarthy, who helped lead the program to a national title last season.
Michigan offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell shared a post on X after Hart’s commitment with a clip of McCarthy adjusting his sunglasses and this message: “#BrickByBrick26”.
