The Indian cricket team appears to be gearing up for the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 series. A picture from their practice session at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) is doing the rounds on social media. As the Indian team practiced at the SCG, the big screen on the ground played an interview of Australia wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis in which he was talking about the 2023 World Cup final victory against India.
A few fans believe the hosts could be playing mind games with the visitors. India had a stellar run during the 50-over World Cup last year. However, Australia denied them the fairytale ending by defeating them in the final to win their sixth title.
The fifth and final Test of the ongoing series at the SCG begins on Friday (January 3). Below is the image of the 2023 World Cup-winning interview being played at the SCG during the visitors’ training session.
After beginning the BGT 2024-25 with a win in Perth, Team India have failed to carry the momentum forward. Australia made an exceptional comeback with a 10-wicket victory in the second Test in Adelaide.
While the third Test at The Gabba was drawn, India succumbed to a 184-run defeat in the fourth Test in Melbourne. The hosts lead the series 2-1 heading into the final Test.
The pressure will be on the visitors to win the final Test at the SCG. As Australia will aim for a series win to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the visitors will have to win the game to ensure they retain it.
India’s senior players, who have failed to perform as per expectations so far, will need to step up. Australia will be confident after their win in Melbourne and will pose a threat once again.
