It wasn’t long ago that Illinois was struggling to get in-state recruits to sign, and when they did have them in their recruiting classes, they were typically late-take sleepers, not players they were beating out other Big Ten and Power Four schools for.
That feels very much in the past as the Illini under Bret Bielema are winning in-state battles.
That continued on Sunday with the addition of Cameron Brooks, a defensive tackle from Homewood-Flossmoor who was also considering Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa with other schools like Michigan recently kicking the tires on him.
