The college football transfer portal opened Dec. 9 and closes Dec. 28.
Here’s a look at the Iowa State football players who have entered the portal and intend to transfer and play elsewhere next season:
A former walk-on who elevated himself to scholarship player and appeared in all 13 games last year, the 6-foot-3, 275-pound defensive end opted to enter the portal. He has one year of eligibility left.
Jones had a diminished role this season, logging just six tackles, after recording 19 tackles and three sacks last year.
The redshirt sophomore long snapper from Winterset, Iowa has entered the portal after seeing a role reduction this season.
Knobloch played in all 13 games last season as the Cyclones‘ long snapper for punts and kicks, and this year, he appeared in Iowa State’s first two games against North Dakota and Iowa.
A four-star recruit coming out of nearby Ankeny High School, the 6-foot-7 redshirt freshman backup quarterback entered the transfer portal. The former Under Armour All-American didn’t see any action this season.
Last year, he saw action in three games, completing 9-of-11 passes for 23 yards. He also ran the ball six times for 32 yards.

Robinson was the first Cyclones player to officially enter the transfer portal. He announced his intentions on Twitter/X and has three years of eligibility remaining.
The redshirt freshman defensive back from New Orleans, La., didn’t appear in any games for the Cyclones this season. He originally transferred to Iowa State after appearing in four games for LSU last year.
A walk-on placekicker from Ashburn, Va., Shackford is entering the portal as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility left.
He primarily served as a kickoff specialist through the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He also handled kickoffs for the early part of this season.
