Wilmington High has a vacancy for the head boys soccer coach.
Kevin Hill resigned from his position as the Greyhounds head coach and his resignation was accepted on April 23.
“First off, my son (Colin Hill) finally made a college choice. He’s a senior this year so he decided to go to Allegheny to play soccer. It’s really a time aspect,” Hill said on his reason for resigning. “I love coaching but I thought it was super important to see my son continue to play I missed some of my daughter’s (Madelyn Hill) games when she was in school. I expect the kids to be all in and give everything they’ve got. I didn’t think it was fair that I wouldn’t provide the same. The timing was right to step aside.”
Hill, who was hired in 2016, helped guide Wilmington to the District 10, Class 1A championship this season, but fell to Seneca, 6-1. He said he “thoroughly enjoyed,” his time with the program, adding, “The last three years, we were very successful, had a great group of kids and they worked hard. Reflecting back, I wish we could’ve got a D10 title but that wasn’t in the cards for us. I wish I had more hours in a day and days in a week to continue to do it. For the short term, I thought it was fair to allow the school to pursue someone who would be all in.”

What’s next for Hill?
“I’m going to be a dad,” he said. “I’ve coached soccer for 17 years at various levels so it will be nice just to sit in the stands, watch, root and cheer and not have to go into all the preparation and strategy and just appreciate the game. Im sure I’m going to miss it. I don’t know how well that’s going to work. That’s going to be the plan this season, enjoy my son. I’ll still be up at the school and rooting for Hounds soccer. The future’s still bright.”
