GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The team leaving a legacy on the field Saturday ended up being Legacy in Grand Forks, as the Sabers upended the West Fargo Packers 1-0 to win the Boys Soccer State Championship.
West Fargo got the large majority of the scoring chances in the first half, but couldn’t find the back of the net.
After a scoreless first half, it was Legacy that would strike in the second half.
A turnover ended up on the leg of Uriel Rivera, who buried a left-footed shot to take the 1-0 lead.
Sabers continued to hold off the Packers, who kept getting shots and scoring chances, and Legacy kept them off the scoreboard to win the title.
Legacy lost the championship to Shanley in 2023, and the Sabers win it this time around for their first title in school history.
