JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The high school football regular season is complete and Nease is perfect.
The Panthers, No. 2 in the Super 10, got four touchdowns from KJ Perry and won a 56-42 shootout with St. Johns County rival Bartram Trail on Thursday night. The result wrapped up a 9-0 regular season, the first at the school since 2006, the season after iconic quarterback Tim Tebow last played.

Back then, it was his replacement Ted Stachitas, bruising running back Zach Tronti and mauling offensive lineman James Wilson leading the Panthers to a 14-0 season before a loss to Tampa Plant in the championship game. This year, it has been Perry, quarterback Nate Harry and receiver Maddox Spencer who have keyed the Nease offense. Even on an off night for the defense that allowed Bartram (4-6) to stay in the game, the Panthers were just too much.
Next up, the state playoffs as the likely No. 1 overall team in the state. Brackets will be released Friday night.
Bartram will miss the playoffs and finished an unheard of as the bottom team in St. Johns County, with five of six losses to county teams.
Flagler Palm Coast, the area’s only other Super 10 team in action, wrapped up a nine-win season with a 62-57 win over DeLand that could give them the District 2-7A title. The Bulldogs (9-1) finished in a three-way tie in the district with Spruce Creek and Orange City University. That tie will be broken by using rankings points later Friday.
