The Greenville Triumph and Liberty Soccer Club, Greenville’s professional men’s and women’s soccer teams, announced a $100,000 grant to the YMCA.
GREENVILLE — Two of Greenville’s professional sports teams are making a substantial investment in Greenville County’s future athletes.
The Greenville Triumph and Liberty Soccer clubs announced a $100,000 grant for the YMCA of Greenville’s youth sports program. The funds will support children in the county who want to participate in summer sports but can’t afford to pay.
This is the first grant from the professional men’s and women’s teams’ recently formed joint foundation, the Greenville Triumph & Liberty Soccer Foundation.
“Like the YMCA, the Greenville Triumph and Liberty soccer teams have always been about building community,” Megan Kolak, senior vice president of the Greenville Triumph Soccer Club, said in a press release.
She added that the grant “underscores our commitment to increasing access to sports in our community by allowing all kids to experience the joy and benefits of participating in sports.”
More than 13,000 children currently participate in the YMCA of Greenville’s Youth Sports program where soccer is the largest program for both boys and girls.
“This gift enables us to extend the reach and impact of the YMCA’s Youth Sports program to many more children and families that want to participate, but don’t have the means to do so,” YMCA of Greenville CEO and President Scot Baddley said.
