Green Hope High School in Cary will have a new head football coach in the 2024 season. Chris Tolbert informed HighSchoolOT that he resigned from his position this morning.
Tolbert took over the Green Hope program ahead of the 2022 season. He was previously the head coach (and defensive coordinator) at Louisburg College. Green Hope finished with a 2-8 overall record in both of Tolbert’s seasons. The Falcons are in period of adjustment after the opening of nearby Green Level High, which has affected the depth of the roster.
Prior to Tolbert, Green Hope was led by veteran coach David Green for five seasons. Green helped Green Hope to a 10-3 overall record in 2017 and a 7-4 overall mark in 2019, the year that Green Level opened. The Falcons had a 10-win season under Kwame Dixon in 2014 and a 13-win season under Tim Pauluzzi in 2004.
The next head coach at Green Hope will be the fourth since 2016. The Falcons are a 4A program that competes in the Southwest Wake Athletic Conference with Apex, Apex Friendship, Cary, Green Level, Holly Springs, Middle Creek, and Panther Creek.
