The country has a greater chance of qualifying for the men’s and women’s Under-17 World Cups following the expansion of the tournaments.
Following last weekend’s FIFA Congress in Thailand, the FIFA Men’s Under-17 World Cup has moved from 24 teams participating to 48, which will see the CONCACAF region having eight qualifying spots up from four.
For the women, the World Cup has expanded to 24 teams from 16 and has given CONCACAF the chance to qualify four teams rather than three.
The Under-17 World Cup for both men and women’s starting in 2025 will be held annually. The Under-17 women’s tournaments from 2025-2029 will be staged in Morocco with the men’s equivalent in Qatar.
Jamaica’s men’s team qualified for tournaments in 1999 and 2011, while the women are yet to do so.
