Wyoming’s Source for High School Sports News – Casper Sports
New top-ranked teams in girls’ soccer and a couple of ties highlight the latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls. Powell and Kelly Walsh take over the top spots in 3A and 4A girls’ soccer. There were also ties in the 3A girls and 4A boys’ rankings. Class 4A teams are entering the regional tournaments this weekend, while 3A teams are wrapping up the regular season.
Voters were split across the board in ballots for 3A girls’ soccer. Six teams received at least one first-place vote. The top three were separated by six points in the voting, and the next three were only 15 points apart. The Powell Panthers took the top spot. Worland and Cody remained tied, but this time, it was for second in the rankings. Lander dropped from first to fourth. Douglas kept the No. 5 spot.
Kelly Walsh moved back to the top of the 4A girls’ poll. The Trojans won the West Conference regular season title and jumped up two spots. Jackson fell to second. Laramie moved up one to third by six points in the balloting over Campbell County, who dropped to fourth. Riverton maintained the fifth position.
Jackson retained the top spot in 4A boys. The Broncs received nine of the 14 first-place votes. Cheyenne Central moved up one to second. The Indians joined Jackson as automatic qualifiers in next week’s state championships. Sheridan and Kelly Walsh tied for third. The Broncs also earned two first-place votes. Thunder Basin stayed fifth.
Finally, Class 3A boys was the only division that did not change. Worland kept the No. 1 ranking with nine of the ten first-place votes. Torrington got the other first-place vote, and the Blazers held in second. Green River, Cody, and Lander remained third, fourth, and fifth.
