'Get ready' – Gianni Infantino provides FIFA 25 update as development underway – The Mirror

FIFA president Gianni Infantino provided his first update on the FIFA video game in over a year at the latest FIFA Congress
Gianni Infantino has claimed the new FIFA game “will be the best”, with the FIFA president providing fans with a new update on the federations plans for a new game.
It's been two years since EA Sports and FIFA announced the end of their 30-year partnership, with EA having already moved on with its EA Sports FC game series. EA FC 24 was the first instalment with EA FC 25 confirmed to be released later this year, but we're yet to receive anything from FIFA.
FIFA president Infantino spoke about the FIFA game series at the FIFA electoral congress in Rwanda last year, where the 54-year-old offered a small update on the game's development. Now, the FIFA president has spoken about the upcoming FIFA game series for the first time since, putting big pressure on the game's shoulders.
Speaking at the FIFA Congress in Bangkok (via the New York Times), Infantino said: “We will develop a new e-game, because [the] football simulation game is called FIFA for hundreds of millions of children around the world.
“When they play football simulation game[s], they play FIFA, it cannot be named something else.
“We are developing new partners and a new game which, obviously as everything we do, will be the best. So get ready for the new FIFA game.”
Infantino wasn't exactly clear about how close we are to a new FIFA game being released, with the FIFA president saying "We will develop a new e-game" before later claiming "We are developing new partners and a new game". Which one is it?
In all honestly, Infantino probably isn't the most qualified person to be talking about the new FIFA game – the FIFA president once again described the game as an "e-game" while also claiming the game is for "hundreds of millions of children around the world", suggesting he's slightly out of touch in that he assumes gaming is just for kids.
For FIFA to make its new game, it will first need a developer, and making a new game from scratch could take some time. You'd hope that a game would already be in the works by now. According to Insider Gaming, there were rumours earlier this year that FIFA and 2K were working to announce a partnership to make an officially licensed FIFA game.
During his speech last year, the 54-year-old hinted at FIFA 24 not being in the works as he said "The new FIFA game – the FIFA 25, 26, 27 and so on", but FIFA 25 is still a possibility, and if FIFA wants to make sure they can prove to be a good enough rival for the EA Sports FC series, then they need to act quick, otherwise players could stick with EA's game in the long run.
