The Florida State women’s soccer team faces a familiar opponent today when it plays for a spot in the College Cup.
Undefeated FSU, the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA women’s soccer tournament, takes on Pittsburgh in the quarterfinal round. The winners punch their ticket to Cary, North Carolina, and a berth in the national semifinal.
The Seminoles (19-0-1) and Panthers (17-5-1) have already met twice this season. FSU won their regular-season match 3-2 on Oct. 19 thanks to three second-half goals in 12 minutes by Lauren Flynn, ACC Freshman of the Year Jordynn Dudley and ACC Offensive Player of the Year Onyi Echegini. In the ACC tournament Nov. 2, Dudley and Beata Olsson scored within a five-minute burst to give the Seminoles a 2-0 win.
