Former Penn State women’s soccer midfielder Rowan Lapi is set to join KIF Obrebro for the upcoming 2025 season, the club announced on Instagram on Thursday.
Lapi joined the Nittany Lions in 2023 as a grad transfer from Northwestern. While with the Wildcats, the Reinholds, Pennsylvania, native landed Second Team All-Big Ten Recognition in 2022.
In the last two seasons with Penn State, Lapi continued her success, starting in 16 games over that time.
Lapi played a pivotal role in the 2024 season’s run to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. Playing mainly in the holding-midfielder role, she scored four times and added an assist while controlling the game in the middle of the pitch.
KIF Orebro typically plays in the top division of Sweden also known as the Damallsvenskan. The league is home to teams such as BK Häcken and Malmö FF.
A 13th-place finish last season, though, means KIF Orebro will play in the Elitettan, the second division.
The club’s best finish came in 2014 when they qualified for the Champions League and finished second in the Damallsvenskan.
Lapi will join fellow former college soccer star Ashley Barron, who graduated from Cincinnati in 2019.
