TAMPA, Fla. (WTVA) — A federal grand jury has indicted a former Ole Miss football player accused of scamming Medicare out of millions of dollars.
Prosecutors in Florida identified him as Rufus French of Amory, Mississippi.
The indictment says French was part of a more than $70 million fraud scheme where companies billed the government for braces that were not medically necessary.
He faces prison time if convicted.
