DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Jake Gervase and several other former Iowa football stars will be in Davenport on June 21st for the 4th annual Rally for Reid football camp to raise money for children and families impacted by childhood cancer. The camp honors the memory of Reid Gleeson who passed away at the age of 5 after battling brain cancer. The camp has raised nearly $250,000 in three years. Reid’s mother Megan is deeply touched by what Gervase and the former Iowa football stars have done for the Rally for Reid foundation.
“Jake, Ben Niemann, Parker Hesse, those guys all came to visit Reid at the hospital and we’ve got some great memories with them there and they’ve done it every single year so it’s been really special to have them and then they just recruit somebody that they played with or some newer guys that have just graduated from the University of Iowa or maybe out of their rookie year in the NFL and it’s been so great all the guys have such wonderful personalities and interact so well with the kids so we’re just really thankful that we have them there each year” said Gleeson.
