TAMPA ― Florida football added its second transfer for the 2025 class, landing a commitment from UCLA wide receiver J. Michael Sturdivant, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
At 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, Sturdivant will give Florida Gators football freshman quarterback DJ Lagway a bigger target to throw to next season. Sturdivant. from Highland Village, Texas, finished with 22 catches for 315 yards and 2 TDs last season.
A redshirt junior, Sturdivant’s best season came in 2022, when he had 65 catches for 755 yards and 7 TDs for California, before transferring to UCLA. Overall, Sturdivant has posted 123 catches for 1,667 yards and 13 TDs in three seasons.
The transfer portal is open through Dec. 28, though players can commit and sign afterwards up to the start of the spring semester in early January. Thus far, Florida football coach Billy Napier has taken a measured approach to transfer signings. Napier said Florida will get a chance to host transfer visits on Dec. 21 and Dec. 22, after the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa on Dec. 20.
“Kind of playing with a lead a little bit,” Napier said. “Don’t need as much as maybe we’ve needed in the past.”
