Bayer Leverkusen has confirmed that attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz has a “minor injury” to his right ankle, which he suffered while playing for the German national team against the Netherlands. They didn’t specify how long he’ll be out.
According to the current Bundesliga champions, the German midfielder underwent an MRI to determine the extent of the injury and is already “receiving treatment” in Leverkusen.
Wirtz was substituted due to the injury at halftime during the Nations League match on Monday night at the Allianz Arena against the Dutch team.
Bayer Leverkusen stated that “it’s unclear when he will be able to return to training,” so his participation in the upcoming matches—on Saturday against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and on Wednesday against Brest in the Champions League—remains in doubt.
