Guyana will make its return to the World Cup of Darts after the team of Sudesh Fitzgerald and Normal Madhoo prevailed in the Latin America Qualifier in Costa Rica last weekend.
Prevailing in 2023’s inaugural qualifier, the duo defeated the Nicaraguan combination of Norwin Jimenez and Gerald Ordenana 4-1 in what was a rematch from the group segment [4-2] to seal their berth in the World Cup, which will be held at Eissporthalle in Frankfurt, Germany, from June 27th–30th.
In the earlier round-robin segment, Madhoo, who made his fourth appearance at the World Darts Championship in December 2023, alongside Fitzgerald, who competed in the 2009 edition, recorded dominant performances to top group B, dropping only two legs in the process.
In the quarterfinal section, the Guyanese pair swept the Panamanian combination of Andres Vega and Antonio Arango to progress to the semi-final section. They then bested the Costa Rican team of Denis Valerin and Jason Calderon in straight legs to earn their final’s berth.
