FIFA World Cup Qualifier: South Africa Thrash Gabon To Face Nigeria In 2nd Round

The U17 Women’s national team of South Africa thrashed Gabon 12-1 in their First Round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier to set up Second Round clash with Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian National team were placed on bye in First Round but South Africa qualification has rekindled the rivalry between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the second leg of the encounter between South Africa and Gabon has been cancelled has Gabon players failed to meet the age restriction rule of the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers. Gabon had only six eligible players for the return leg which fell short of FIFA rules.
Following their achievements, on paper, Nigeria are favourites ahead of their South African counterparts having finished Third in the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup and also five times African African champions in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2016.
