If life is truly a bell curve, then odds are you are either 2-3 or 3-2 in most of your fantasy leagues. You’re a middle of the pack squad with a lot to prove. That means the waiver wire needs to be your best friend. There is a myriad of talent still available in numerous leagues. If your leaguemates are stupid enough not to pick up any of these players, then you need to run, check that, sprint to your waiver in order to claim these potential steals.
After a flurry of interesting backfield usages, there are more than enough players to give you a shot at winning your fantasy league in Week 6. Furthermore, key injuries to players like De’Von Achane, Malik Nabers, Aaron Jones, and Evan Engram need to be monitored in order to make the most of your roster moves.
Here are five players to target before waivers clear Wednesday morning.

We tried to tell you last week, but Downs is a talented player. He is a machine that swallows up targets and receptions, making him a must-add in PPR formats. In non-PPR formats, he may be a little touchdown dependent, but Downs’ volume, even with talented receivers like Alec Pierce and Michael Pittman Jr. in the fold, is more than enough to fill your FLEX spot, perhaps even your WR2 spot when you need a fill-in during bye weeks. Between the last two weeks, Downs has recorded 21 targets, 17 receptions, 151 yards, and one touchdown. He should not be available in over half of all leagues.
The Miami Dolphins’ star running back De’Von Achane has a bit of an injury history. Although his injury in Week 5 was not a torn ACL or ankle sprain, he still seemed very slow heading to the locker room following his concussion and was ruled out of the game rather quickly. Jaylen Wright is the explosive rookie in Miami’s locker room, and although Raheem Mostert took most of the workload after Achane’s departure, Wright was the more efficient back and still had a sizable workload.
If you didn’t think Bigsby had taken over the Jacksonville backfield last week, Week 5 should’ve changed your mind. Bigsby recorded more than twice as many carries as fellow back Travis Etienne and was far more efficient on the ground. Etienne still got a bulk of the receiving work, but goal-line carries and red zone carries finally shifted to Bigsby in Week 5. Furthermore, Bigsby’s efficiency helped Jacksonville earn their first win of the season. He’ll likely get more work moving forward.
Let me get this straight. Mooney had earned six or more targets in three straight games, and he was still available in over half of all leagues? Oh, but now that he earned 16 targets in a huge come-from-behind win on national television, now he’s worth your attention? Mooney was a great add for weeks, and all this performance has done is make him a higher priority target for all of your leaguemates. Now, you’ll have to hope the people above you in the waiver order opt for someone else, and that’s highly unlikely. Oh, and he’ll likely never put up the numbers he did on Thursday. This was probably his peak, so he’ll only disappoint from now on if he’s still unrostered.
Despite Ronnie Rivers being healthy for the Rams’ Week 6 matchup, Blake Corum earned most of the change-of-pace work this week. Kyren Williams has a bit of an injury history, but that alone wouldn’t be enough to pick him up. If you have Williams, Corum is a must-add though. It’s clear that the Rams are liking Corum more and more each week. One injury, or a fumble streak from Williams could make Corum a league-winner.
