ELLISVILLE, Miss. (WDAM) – A familiar face is returning to Jones College.
JC’s first-year head football coach Lytrel Pollard named Scottie Phillips as the Bobcats’ running backs coach.

Phillips led Jones to an 8-2 record in 2017, the then-Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges South Division title and the school’s first playoff appearance in four years.
He rushed for 1,212 yards as a freshman, which ranked fifth in the nation. His 123.6 yards per game average was second in the MACJC and third nationally.
As a sophomore, Phillips rushed for 1,070 yards, which was third in the state and 12th in the country, and led the team in scoring with 13 touchdowns.
Phillips’ 2,182 yards and 27 touchdowns both rank second all-time at Jones.
Phillips transferred to the University of Mississippi for his junior and senior seasons.

He rushed for a school-record 204 yards in his debut vs. Texas Tech in 2018 and was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
Phillips averaged 70 yards rushing per game in his two seasons at Ole Miss, ending his career ranked No. 11 in career rushing touchdowns (17) and No. 17 in rushing yards (1,470).
He signed as an undrafted free agent with the National Football League’s Houston Texans, appearing in 11 games over the 2020-21 seasons.
