FIFA World Cup will have six matches in Seattle
The FIFA World Cup™ is coming to North America in 2026. For the first time it won’t be held in just one country. The US will get a majority of the matches, but Canada and Mexico will host a number of matches as well.
Seattle will be one of the US locations, along with San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, and New York. You can see the Seattle World Cup schedule here.
Seattle organizers aren’t hoarding all the attention. They have designated nine Washington cities to be official “fan zones.” Everett will be one of them.
Here’s how they described it:
Recognizing the statewide significance of hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026™, SeattleFWC26 sought partnerships with communities outside of King County to create vibrant fan zones, in order to ensure that as many Washingtonians as possible can be part of this historic event. Specific locations within each city will be announced ahead of the tournament.
Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin in attendance when the announcement was made that Everett will be a Fan Zone.
Expect Fan Zones to hold free match viewing on giant screens, free special events, plus food, and entertainment.
Also expect to see something special that uniquely represents the Everett area. There’s a good chance these activities could be shown during World Cup coverage.
Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin commented:
“Everett is the place to be for the FIFA World Cup in 2026! As the home of AquaSox Baseball, Silvertips Hockey, Jets Soccer and Wolfpack Football, Everett is an incredibly proud sports town. We look forward to welcoming passionate and energized soccer fans for FIFA World Cup fun at our fan zone and throughout our city!”
Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers said:
“I’m excited to invite you to our SeattleFWC26 fan zone. Snohomish County has something for everybody, from snow-tipped mountains to the shores of Puget Sound. We hope fans will join us to make the World Cup experience unforgettable. We’re all in for FIFA World Cup 2026.”
