After easily his most productive season on the Oregon football team, Eugene native and two-sport standout Bryce Boettcher announced Tuesday on social media he would return for one last season.
The former walk-on safety joined the football team as a sophomore after originally committing to play baseball at Oregon. Boettcher has played three full seasons with the football team, including a 2024 season that saw him finish with a team-high 94 tackles.
All the while, Boettcher played four full seasons with the baseball team and was drafted by the Houston Astros in the MLB Draft last summer.
It’s unclear whether Boettcher will continue to pursue baseball while he finishes his last football season with the Ducks.
Boettcher’s return brings a big boost to a room that will graduate several key contributors like Jeffrey Bassa and Jestin Jacobs.
