BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team was coming off a loss and looking for a spark heading into Saturday night’s game at Orlando Health Stadium.
They got that spark from Lili Baidoe who scored a hat trick Saturday in a 4-0 victory against Southwestern Illinois in the final game of a busy day at Orlando Health Stadium.
Baidoe scored the first two goals in the first eight minutes of the game.
The freshman from Liverpool, England scored in the third minute of the contest and then again in the eighth minute to take a 2-0 lead. She almost had her hat trick in the first 15 minutes of the game, but it came off the crossbar.
The Titans came out of halftime with some aggressiveness and with 33 minutes remaining, sophomore Tiggi Gent scored on a nice shot from distance. It was Gent’s sixth goal of the season and gave the Titans a 3-0 lead.
And then with under 18 minutes remaining, Baidoe took a corner kick and headed it into the back of the net. It was her first hat trick of the season and Baidoe now has nine goals on the season. It is the third time Baidoe has scored multiple goals in a game.
No. 17 Miami Dade College defeated Monroe Community College in the first game of the day, 2-0. Then the Eastern Florida State College men’s soccer team lost to Miami Dade 3-2 and in the game before the nightcap, Strive Soccer Academy held on for a win.
Eastern Florida State College, who improved to 5-4 on the season with the win, will host Polk State College in a conference game on Tuesday, weather permitting.
