The wait is almost over! EA Sports College Football 25 is set to release on Friday, July 19. 247Sports is proud to be the exclusive media group to get early access to playing the game. To make sure fans are ready for the launch of EA College Football 25, we’re previewing some of the top teams in the video game including one of the most dominant teams in recent years – the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Bucknuts team expert Dave Biddle has you covered with a Q&A session to get you ready to play with OSU in College Football 25. Dave will pinpoint everything you need to know about the Ohio State Buckeyes roster from impact players to choosing the best offensive and defensive playbooks and highlighting key games on the 2024 football schedule.
For wide receivers, you are going to need to get with Emeka Egbuka (93 overall) and Jeremiah Smith. The Buckeyes are loaded at WR, but those are the main two. But don’t count out fellow wide receivers Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss. At running back, Ohio State has a dynamite 1-2 punch with TreVeyon Henderson (93 overall) and Quinshon Judkins (95 overall). Defensively, Jack Sawyer (92 overall) is your best bet to rack up sacks, Cody Simon will likely lead the team in tackles, and the secondary is led by cornerback Denzel Burke (91 overall) and safety Caleb Downs (95 overall).
Definitely 11 personnel for OSU’s offense. 3 WRs and then rotate Henderson and Judkins at tailback. Defensively? Mix things up, but the base 4-2-5 is your best bet. Ohio State is loaded on the D-line and especially in the secondary. Linebacker? We shall see.
Michigan in the regular-season finale at Ohio Stadium. Can the Buckeyes end their 3-year losing streak to the defending national champion Wolverines?
Do everything you are doing right now. Crush recruiting. Be on point with the transfer portal. Do a great job of retaining your own players. Have a good relationship with your main NIL collective. Buy subscriptions to 247Sports.
I’m partial to the fake jet sweep to the left, have the QB roll out to the right, RPO, have a WR deep, a TE underneath. We’re moving the chains at the very least. At best? Bring on the extra point team.
247Sports’ Bud Elliott, also of the Cover3 podcast, had this to say about OSU in the game.
“Can anyone score on this Ohio State defense? Adding Downs as a transfer is ridiculous. And the front is full of grown men who returned to Columbus to win a ring.. Veteran Emeka Egbuka is a star, and freshman Jeremiah Smith might be the best receiver recruit we have seen in a decade. The offensive line should be better and backs like Judkins and Henderson are the best 1-2 combo in the sport.”
In 2013, Bud created the Blue Chip Ratio — a breakdown of programs that have done well enough on the recruiting trail to actually win the College Football Playoff. You will be able to see Bud’s ratio in the game.
EA College Football 25 will be available on July 19. For more team previews, check out 247Sports and CBSSports.com over the coming week.
