After a season with zero wins and the departure of 12 players, the University of Oregon women’s soccer team is in turmoil. Several Ducks who either graduated or transferred out of the program in recent years lay the blame squarely at the feet of head coach Graeme Abel, who they say left them feeling shamed, demeaned and verbally abused.
Make even a minor mistake on the field, former players told The Oregonian/OregonLive, and they came to expect a diatribe from Abel about how they weren’t good enough to play college soccer, would never be a professional, and didn’t belong there in the first place.
