Dottin, Fletcher named in T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament – Caribbean Life


West Indies’ duo of Deandra Dottin and Afy Fletcher were rewarded for their outstanding performances in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup when they were named in the Team of the Tournament.
The West Indies were eliminated from the tournament at the semifinal stage by New Zealand, who went on to lift their first World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final.
The 33-year-old Dottin, who came out of retirement three months before the T20 World Cup, ended with 120 runs from five innings at an average of 40, an impressive strike rate of 162.16, hitting a tournament-high of nine sixes.
Dottin also took five wickets, including 4-22 against New Zealand, at an average of 7.60 and an economy rate of 5.42.

Meanwhile, 37-year-old leg-spinner Fletcher, ended the World Cup with 10 wickets from her five matches at an average of 11.50 and an economy rate of 6.38.
South African skipper Laura Wolvaardt was named captain of the Team of the Tournament, which also includes her opening partner Tazmin Brits and spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba.
New Zealand also boasts of three players, including Amelia Kerr, Rosemary Mair and Eden Carson.
