After spending one season under head coach James Franklin as Penn State football’s defensive coordinator, Tom Allen is leaving to join Dabo Swinney’s staff for the same position.
The move was first reported by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Monday.

ESPN first reported that Allen and Clemson were in deal discussions, which looks to be made official in the next few days.
With Allen as defensive coordinator for the Nittany Lions in 2024, the unit ranked No. 7 in total defense, No. 8 in points per game, and No. 9 against the run.
Penn State will be searching for its third defensive coordinator in three seasons.
