The World Cup competition in London delivered thrilling show jumping, staying exciting until the very last moment. In this eighth leg of the Western European World Cup season, Darragh Kenny ultimately delivered on his promise. He ensured top-level sport with an eventual victory!
Five combinations qualified for the jump-off in this 1.60m World Cup class. Only two duos managed to complete the jump-off without faults. One of them was aboard the 12-year-old Eddy Blue (Eldorado vd Zeshoek, breeder: Paul Schockemöhle).
Kenny took the lead on the line to the double combination, where he managed one less stride than Olympic champion Ben Maher. Maher followed in second place with the 10-year-old Point Break (Action-Breaker). With one jumping fault, as the last to start, Robert Whitaker completed the top three. Whitaker rode the 11-year-old Vermento (Argento), followed by Tim Gredley and Imperial HBF (Glasgow-W vh Merelsnest). Gredley was the first to start in the Jump-Off.
The top five was rounded out by Sophie Hinners riding the 12-year-old BWP gelding Iron Dames my Prins (formerly My Prins Van Dorperheide, by Zilverstar T). Earlier this season, Sophie Hinners already won the World Cup in Verona!
