Cristiano Ronaldo and his Al Nassr team have run into trouble in their bid for honours on multiple fronts.
After Sadio Mane, Seko Fofana, Marcelo Brozovic, Aymeric Laporte and Alex Telles joined the squad for 2023/24, Al Nassr hoped they would have enough to take them over the top after finishing just short in every competition in 2022/23.
Al Nassr finished in second place in the 2022/23 Saudi Pro League and also fell in the semifinals of the King Cup and the Saudi Super Cup.
The 39-year-old Ronaldo has already captained his team to silverware, winning the Arab Club Champions Cup (also known as the King Salman Club Cup) with a 2-1 defeat of rivals Al Hilal. However, at home and abroad in the Saudi Pro League and AFC Champions League things have not gone to plan.
