The stage is officially set for Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 in England! The four pools have been drawn, and fans can now start getting excited about some thrilling matchups. Running from August 22 to September 27, 2025, this tournament is gearing up to be the biggest celebration of women’s rugby on a global scale.
The draw sets the path to the final for the top 16 teams, and there are some exciting matchups to look forward to. Hosts and current number one team in the World Rugby Women’s Rankings, England, are set to face Australia, USA, and Samoa in Pool A. The full match schedule will be announced on Tuesday, October 22.
Pool B sees Canada, the world’s number two team, leading the pack, but they face a fascinating challenge with the wildcard Fiji, alongside familiar Six Nations rivals Scotland and Wales.
Reigning champions New Zealand headline Pool C, but they have a score to settle after recently being edged out by Ireland in the WXV. They’ll be up against a determined Irish, as well as Japan and Spain, both teams looking to make their mark.
Meanwhile, Pool D brings together some of the sport’s giants. France and Italy will face off in what promises to be a fierce European clash, but they’ll also need to contend with a reinvigorated South Africans and newcomers Brazil, who are making their debut at the Women’s Rugby World Cup and eager to prove themselves on the global stage.
Before the draw, the 16 teams were seeded into four bands, based on the World Rugby Women’s Rankings from October 14. The top four—England, Canada, New Zealand, and France—were automatically placed in the first position of their respective pools.
Teams will face their pool opponents over three weekends, with the top two in each pool advancing to the quarter-finals and knockout rounds.
During the initial ticket sale, fans snapped up over 60,000 tickets for England’s opener in Sunderland and the final at Twickenham. England will also play pool matches in Northampton and Brighton & Hove. The next chance to grab tickets is from 6:00 AM CST on November 5 to 6:00 AM CST on November 19. Oversubscribed price categories will use a ballot system.
