Jones is the second transfer commitment for the ‘Hoos this Spring.
The Virginia Cavaliers made their second transfer portal addition since the conclusion of spring practice on Saturday, landing a commitment from Cincinnati linebacker Dorian Jones.
After originally committing to UTEP earlier this month, Jones flipped to UVA after taking a visit to Charlottesville this week.

A 6’0, 230-pound sixth-year senior from Boynton Beach, Fla., Jones spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Louisville where he totaled 90 tackles while appearing in 36 games from 2020-2022.
Jones then transferred to Cincinnati — following head coach Scott Satterfield — prior to the 2023 season during which he tallied a career-high 56 tackles in addition to 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 1 interception in 11 games (8 starts). His 56 tackles were third most on the Bearcats’ defense and he posted a career-high 13 tackles in a dominant performance during Cincinnati’s September 23rd game against Oklahoma.

Coming out of American Heritage High School in South Florida, Jones was a three-star prospect in the class of 2019 and was named the Miami Sentinel’s Broward County Class 5A-1A Defensive Player of the Year after finishing his senior season with 122 tackles and 29 TFLs.
Jones — who has one year of eligibility remaining — is a strong, physical player who will add a veteran presence and a wealth of experience to a young Virginia linebacker group that features standout sophomore Kam Robinson and juniors Stevie Bracey and Trey McDonald.
The ‘Hoos have now filled 84 of the available 85 scholarships for the 2024 season after also picking up a commitment from Dartmouth offensive line transfer Ethan Sipe on May 1st.
