Columbia hires new football coach, athletic director ahead of 24-25 season – WDAM

PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – The Columbia Wildcats have a new face at the head for the 2024-25 football season.
On Tuesday, the Columbia School District announced they’d hired Lance Pogue as the district’s new head football coach and athletic director.
Pogue has a noteworthy 238-67 record after 23 years of coaching. Over 10 of those years, he won five 5A/6A MHSAA State Championship titles at South Panola High School. He’s also coached at Eupora High School, Jackson Academy, Heritage Academy, Winona Academy, Madison Central, and Mississippi Delta Community College.
Pogue has also won the following awards:
In addition to coaching, Pogue has both a Master’s and a bachelor’s degree in education from Delta State University. He also earned his associate’s degree from Holmes Community College after graduating from Eupora High School.
Pogue and his wife, Dixie, have been married for 29 years. They have two children – Tyler and Maleah.
