Pregame, 6:30 p.m.: This is a rematch from last year, but in an earlier round of the state championship. Last year, the Palmer Ridge Bears beat the Broomfield Eagles 38-14 on their way to play in the finals. They were buoyed by a strong rushing game, ultimately finding 322 yards on the ground.
Both Palmer Ridge and Broomfield are 10-1 and on six-game winning streaks, though Palmer Ridge has won nine of its last ten by double-digits, according to a previous report by The Gazette.
There are four Colorado Springs area schools continuing their run in the state football playoffs this weekend.

No. 4 Palmer Ridge plays at home against No. 5 Broomfield on Friday night. Palmer Ridge convincingly beat Rampart 30-7 last week. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
Also in 4A, No. 7 Mesa Ridge travels to Montrose to take on the No. 2 Red Hawks. Last week Mesa Ridge won in a thriller, topping No. 10 Monarch 31-31. Mesa Ridge’s game is on Saturday at 1 p.m.
No. 8 Discovery Canyon travels north to Loveland, facing the No. 1, and undefeated, Thompson Valley in a quarterfinal. Discovery Canyon defeated No. 9 Pueblo East 28-20 last week. Kickoff is on Saturday at 1 p.m.
No. 3 The Classical Academy plays No. 2 Basalt in a semifinal. The Classical Academy beat Berthoud 20-17 last week. Their game kicks off on Saturday at 1 p.m.
