The end of bowl season is nearing, with two more non-College Football Playoff games scheduled for Friday.
The action on Friday includes the First Responder Bowl featuring North Texas vs. Texas State, while the second will be the Duke’s Mayo Bowl with Minnesota playing Virginia Tech. One additional non-CFP bowl game will be played Saturday to conclude the 2024-25 bowl season.
In the first matchup, the Mean Green (6-6) will play the Bobcats (7-5) at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas. The two in-state rivals will meet for the first time since 1994. North Texas has won three in a row over Texas State and leads the all-time series 29-7-3.
Meanwhile, the Golden Gophers (7-5) and Hokies (6-6) will play on the gridiron for the first time. Both teams will look to close out the season with two straight wins. Virginia Tech beat rival Virginia 37-17 on Nov. 30 to earn bowl eligibility.
